RE: carlsbad caverns

Yes, in this case, go KOA, even if KOA's are not usually on your list. It is a great cg, large sites, and a friendly staff. I did the exact same thing last year leaving the balloon fiesta. There is a state park nearby, I forget the name, that has camping, but I wanted FHUP's since I had been dry camping at the fiesta. Enjoy the cave!!! There is also a nice state run park with a zoo in the area, if you have time, go there, it's very well done. Kathy

RE: Campgrounds in or near St Lucie Florida

Another vote for Treasure Coast. I spent 1 month there last winter, I have reservations for 2 months this winter. Neat, clean, and great management. Kathy

RE: support under the leveler feet

Yep, Tex Road Dog, me too. put handle on each with section of rope. Easy to pull out from under the coach. In cold weather, will the use of jack pads be useful in case of ground freeze? In other words, is it possible for the jacks to freeze to the ground and be difficult to retract? I'm heading north for the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays. Kathy

Thanks for Charlottesville cg suggestion

I had posted a while back that I needed a cg in the Charlottesville, VA area. Several replies suggested Misty Mountain. I arrived at Misty Mountain the other day for my 1 month stay. The cg is in a perfect location for me, thanks to all that made the suggestion. I am in the lower section, but in the row closest to the road. That and a lousy cable tv channel lineup are the only downsides, but not big issues to me. The monthly rate is very reasonable, and the folks here are outgoing and friendly. Thanks again, Kathy

RE: Help (Please) Got locked out

Well thank goodness I have the bad habit of not locking the driver side window! I did lock myself out, no lock malfunction- a me malfunction. Got a ladder and climbed in through the unlocked dr window. I travel on the east coast quite a bit, there are many toll booths-making it necessary to open that window a lot and pass over a bunch of green. I also figure if a thief wants to get in, they will, and this unlocked window will save me from a bunch of damage. Won't protect my stuff, but if they are going to get in anyway, stuff is gone!! OP, good luck, I hope you get the lock issue resolved. Kathy

RE: Full timing and my primary doc - rant!

Have you discussed your concerns directly with the doctor? He needs to know what is going on with his practice. If he already knows, and hasnt' addressed it, then yes, maybe a new doc is the answer. I would approach it from the stand point of the years he has been a valuable doctor to your whole family. Good luck, and happy birthday. Kathy

Good Cummins Coach Care experience

Hi, I have had my '02 to the 3rd different cummins coach care service center; CO, FL, PA. CO was for an overheating issue that was resolved with cleaning the rear radiator, and the other times for rountine servicing. I must say, I have had a positive experience at all 3. They honor your app't, discuss in detail what you want/need done, and report anything they find before addressing. They provide overnight parking w/50amp, comfortable customer lounge making it easier for this FTer. Yesterday, I was hooking up the toad, in the rain, and the manager came out and helped!!! I am not affiliated in any way to cummins, and if you read any of my posts you know that I am totally mechanically inept. Just wanted to post a positive!!!! Safe travels, Kathy

RE: Albuquerque balloon festival

I was there last year, and loved every minute. I was dry camping, facing the landing/target field. That was all good until I was taking a shower and a balloon flew overhead, very close, and did I mention my shower skylight???? In addition to the school bus shuttles that take you to the launch field, there were shuttles that went to Old Towne, cost $5. Good deal. Enjoy, Kathy

RE: how to plan an out west trip

Can you add any more days? Others have pointed out that you will be doing mostly driving/riding. Are the 6 all adults or some kids? If there are younger ones, you should plan some stops that will interest them along the way. It's tough enough for adults to ride that much, kids-yikes. I agree that you need to do one or the other- GC, Zion, Bryce, Arches or Yellowstone, Tetons, Mt Rushmore. Then, make it a priority that you get out there another time, it's a good excuse to "have to go back". :) Kathy

RE: What is happening? Lights dim, elec problem?

OP HERE> Yes, a battery charger is a purchase I will be making. I'm not comfortable with battery stuff, but I think in a pinch I could do it!!!! I have charged a car battery. I made a new post update- I am feeling really dumb. In the light of day, I found a loose connection at the converter. Took care of that, and lo and behold battery voltage jumped to 13.0 instantly. This incident has me convinced I need a voltmeter and a battery charger!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone-you guys are the greatest. Kathy

Dim lights-battery update-and boy do I feel stupid

Hi, Thanks for all the posts concerning my battery drain on shore power. In the light of day and without rain, I again checked the converter/elec bay. I found an electrical plug behind the converter, and it was not all the way in the socket. I did check last night in the dark and rain, but did not see this plug. I've been here for 2 weeks-how did that plug jump out of it's socket? Crazy. With my very limited skill:o I pushed it in and wallah- the battery volt indicator jumped to 13.0 instantly. Could it be that simple? i'm not sure if the problem is fixed, but it seems to be. I do have an app't with cummins rv tech tomorrow-should I have him check the 4 6 volts to make sure I didn't damage them? Other than being embarrassed and feeling pretty dumb, is there anything else concerning the batteries I should have the tech check? Kathy

RE: What is happening? Lights dim, elec problem?

UPDATE from op. I was scheduled for routine engine mait at cummins on Wed. Called them this am. The rv tech will check out battery situation tomorrow am. Now I just need to get through today. I will profusely apologize to neighbors, and mid day I'll start engine, let run for a bit. That should get me through today, maybe run engine again early evening. Until then, I will try to conserve battery consumption-I'll let Mother Nature light the rv. Kathy

RE: What is happening? Lights dim, elec problem?

Where is the breaker for the converter? I am a complete idiot when it comes to mechanical knowledge!! I have a panel inside the mh, and all the breakers are in the on position. Is this what you mean? And yes, I ran the engine, I am in a cg w/neighbors making it difficult to run engine or genny. I will call Cummins in the am, I am scheduled for routine maintenance Wed.-hoping they can get me straightened out. In the meantime between now and then, what should I do or more importantly= not do??????????????? I have 4 6volt-all fairly new. Thanks, OP Kathy

Do they check out this sort of thing, or are they engine only????? Thanks you guys, you are helping me soo much. Kathy

What is happening? Lights dim, elec problem?

Hi, I need your help, an unusual situation is happening right now. I am in a park w/50 amp power, been here almost 2 weeks. No issues. Tonight I notice the interior coach lights are very dim. Voltage meter shows in "normal" range. I am very concerned about what might be happening. I do have power, what should I check? Of course this happens on a Sunday night? I did go to the pedestal, set breaker to off, disconnected/reconnected- no change. Checked inside circuit breakers- seem ok. Also just noticed the lp indicator (usually blinks green) is not showing anything. Please help me out here, I must admit to being pretty shook up. I would say lights are operating at about 50%. Checked battery strength- showing 7.3. Still connected to elec., should I disconnect. Kathy

RE: Lakeside RV Park Bluff City, TN

Thanks for the info. I'll be in the neighborhood mid Nov. and saw their web site. Glad to read posts from folks who have been there. We'll be there for a week. Any suggestions for things to do in the area?? Kathy

RE: How slow is unsafe?

Give me a brake. That 10mph isn't going to get you to your destination any significantly quicker. Relax and enjoy the mountain scenery. Maybe thank the guy for saving you some money with better fuel economy.

RE: How often should you have to defrost frig fins?

OP here. OK, defrosted via hair dryer. The slider for the fins is attached to a wire and is white, right? Well, mine was on the top shelf wire, that's where it was when I bought coach, and thought that's where it belonged. Dumb me. I have put it on the right fin, about middle and adjust as needed. Thanks Kathy

RE: How often should you have to defrost frig fins?

OP here. What and where is the "fin slider"that Triker33 mentioned? Thanks, I'm about to defrost this morning. It's a rainy day, so I figure that's Mother Nature's way of telling me to accomplish some inside chores-like cleaning.
